Rural Capacity Building Paralegal
The JFON-NE Rural Capacity Building (RCB) Paralegal is responsible for performing tasks assigned by the RCB attorneys of Central and Eastern Nebraska. The RCB Paralegal will work under the supervision of and will be assigned duties delegated by our RCB attorneys. The RCB Paralegal position will be located in Lexington, and the RCB Paralegal will work in coordination with established community partners to promote community education, to advocate for immigrants’ rights, and to promote inclusion of the immigrant community.
Duties will involve performing various administrative functions, including but not limited to, the support of clerical, legal research, draft memoranda, media and communications, and program functions. The RCB Paralegal will work with the JFON-NE Legal Support Team to ensure high quality immigration legal services to JFON-NE clients. The RCB Paralegal will also work on identifying collaborative community partners to help build capacity for the provision of long-term immigration legal services in these communities. In addition, the RCB Paralegal will have the opportunity to apply for and successfully obtain Department of Justice (DOJ) Accreditation after training, if so desired. Accreditation will allow a qualified non-lawyer to represent individuals before Department of Homeland Security on behalf of a recognized organization.

JFON-NE legal clinics take place in Omaha, Grand Island and Lexington, Nebraska. Our rural attorneys and legal service providers collaborate with partners to build capacity for community-based immigration legal services in Crete and South Sioux City, Nebraska.
